Cheng's Story
Huanle Ren He Media Co., Ltd., and co-founder and Music Director of Yue Ling International Media. He is also a composer for IMC Cinemas in the USA. Teacher Cheng has produced original songs for numerous well-known singers and companies and has served as the composer, arranger, and music director for many large-scale TV dramas and international films. His contributions to film scores have won numerous international awards and nominations. Additionally, he is a judge for the GOCAA International Piano Competition's Beijing division.
Teacher Cheng is also an experienced mentor for students aspiring to study music performance and production abroad. His students have been admitted to prestigious institutions like the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), Musicians Institute, Eastman School of Music, NYU's MPAP, USC Thornton School of Music, UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music, Berklee College of Music, and the Los Angeles College of Music (LACM).
His popular "Improvisation Series" courses have been a hit among music enthusiasts, addressing common challenges such as playing only from sheet music, not knowing how to play a favorite song by ear, understanding melody but not accompaniment, being limited to one key or accompaniment style, not knowing chords, and more. He answers essential questions about what improvisation is, whether it requires specific instruments, and if beginners can learn it. This series is also open to improvisational practice on instruments other than the piano.
