Aliyah's Story
Aliyah Graham is a teaching artist and actor passionate about helping young people discover confidence, creativity, and their individual voice through theatre and the arts. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Aliyah brings extensive experience working with children in both school and professional theatre settings. She has served as a Music and Drama Teacher at BASIS Independent Lower School, as well as a Lead Teaching Artist with Columbus Children’s Theatre and Florida Studio Theatre. Her teaching experience spans early childhood through elementary-aged students and includes acting, improvisation, directing, playwriting, script analysis, music, and creative movement.
At the heart of Aliyah’s teaching philosophy is the belief that theatre is not simply about learning how to perform—it is a powerful way for children to develop confidence, communication skills, emotional intelligence, creativity, and a sense of belonging. Her classes create a supportive environment where students are encouraged to take creative risks, express their ideas, collaborate with others, and discover what makes their own voice unique.
Aliyah is especially skilled at designing developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons that balance structure with imagination. Whether a child is naturally outgoing or still finding the confidence to step forward, she meets students where they are and encourages them to grow through play, storytelling, and performance.
