Erdong's Story
Erdong Chen is a classically trained vocalist and music educator, holding a Master of Music from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from California State University, East Bay. He has also studied systematic vocal music under Professor Zhang Xueliang, Vice Dean of the School of Music at South China Normal University.
As a performer, Erdong has appeared in a wide range of operatic and choral productions, including Le Nozze di Figaro (as Figaro), La Clemenza di Tito (as Publio), and Iolanthe (as Lord Mountararat). He has also performed extensively with the East Bay Singers Choir and the Vocal Repertory Ensemble, touring, recording, and collaborating in diverse musical styles. His recital repertoire spans German art songs, Italian arias, and English art songs, showcasing both technical mastery and expressive artistry.
In addition to his performance career, Erdong has taught voice at Yong Hui Art Training School, where he guided students in vocal technique, stage performance, and artistic interpretation. He emphasizes healthy vocal habits, individualized instruction, and artistic confidence, helping students prepare for recitals, competitions, and musical theatre roles.
Fluent in Mandarin and English, Erdong is an adaptable and collaborative musician who brings leadership, creativity, and dedication to every project. His passion for performance and education is matched by a commitment to inspiring students and audiences alike.
